| "PASSPORT
TO DANGER"
...a
thrashing story line, entangled in adventure, risk, death...
The
year is 1954, and Marty Roland, a k a Nick Mangieri, has grown increasingly
bored with his sightseeing vacations to the Caribbean. His solution
is to embark on a hunting expedition to Central America, which is
perched on the brink of war. He never dreams that an innocent American
hunter will be considered a threat as he crosses borders with guns
in tow.
He
soon learns otherwise.
So
begins the adventures of the young Italian American from Fort Lauderdale
as he goes in search of challenges, trophies and wealth in the tropical
jungles of Costa Rica, British Guiana and Mexico.
Facing
life-threatening danger at every turn, he plunges into the hearts
of those countries to pit his strength, stamina and determination
against the natural world and its formidable inhabitants.
In
the oppressive heat of the jungles where the sheer magnitude of
blood-sucking insects alone can drive a man to madness, he hunts
boa and jaguar, learning all too well how quickly the hunter can
become the hunted and the hungry become the meal.
In
British Guiana, he makes a home in a "pork-knocker" village
to search for wealth by prospecting for diamonds. And quickly learns
that the murderous greed of men is far more threatening and deadly
than the piranha-filled streams, nests of scorpions and deadly "anni"
he encounters on his daily treks to work his "pit."
And
finally, in Mexico, he rises to face one of the biggest challenges
of his life, scaling the 18,700-foot Pico de Orizaba mexico's highest
and North America's third highest mountain wearing little more than
jeans, a light parka and some leather hunting boots.
He
went in search of adventure and found it ten-fold.
And
now he shares his story with the world.
